Baseball Recap: Fowler Extends Winning Streak to Five

Fowler had already won four in a row dating back to last season (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 9 runs) and they went ahead and made it five on Monday. They blew past the Saranac Redhawks 9-2. That's more bragging rights for the Eagles, who also won the pair's last head-to-head.

Sam Vanneste and Noah Schafer were a major factor no matter where they played. Throwing, Vanneste struck out seven batters over three innings while giving up no earned runs off one hit (and only one walk). Meanwhile, Schafer didn't allow a single earned run while striking out seven over four innings pitched. At bat, Vanneste got on base in four of his five plate appearances with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base, while Schafer scored a run while going 2-for-5.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Conner Katich, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in four of his five plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Ben Kohagen, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-2.

Fowler's win bumped their record up to 2-0. As for Saranac, they are on a five-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-3.
