Basketball Recap: Kennedi Hamner's Big Game Can't Quite Lead the O'neal School over Freedom Christian Academy

The O'Neal School was the 65-14 winner over Freedom Christian Academy when they last played one another back in February of 2024, but their luck changed this time around. The O'Neal School Falcons took a 55-50 hit to the loss column at the hands of the Freedom Christian Academy Patriots. While the Falcons didn't get the win, they did start the game off strong, beating the Patriots 10-6 in the first quarter.

Several Falcons players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Kennedi Hamner, who dropped a double-double on 13 points and 12 boards. With that strong performance, Hamner is now averaging an impressive 8.2 rebounds per game. Another player making a difference was Judah Sibley, who posted 17 points in addition to eight rebounds and four steals.

Even though they lost, The O'Neal School smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with ten offensive boards. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least nine offensive boards in seven consecutive games.

Allison Lett was her usual excellent self, dropping a double-double on 26 points and 16 boards for Freedom Christian Academy. The team also got some help courtesy of Neveah Sanford, who put up nine points and six boards.

The O'Neal School's loss dropped their record down to 5-5. As for Freedom Christian Academy, they now have a winning record of 6-5.

The O'Neal School will host Berean Baptist Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Freedom Christian Academy, they will venture away from home to challenge Village Christian Academy at 5:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Freedom Christian Academy is facing Village Christian Academy at the right time seeing as Village Christian Academy is stuck on an eight-game losing streak.
