The Nativity BVM Green Wave are on the road again on Saturday and plays the Pottsville Crimson Tide at 7:00 p.m. on February 10th. Both teams come into the match bolstered by wins in their previous matches.
Nativity BVM scored the most points they've had all season to find success on Tuesday. They took their game on the road with ease, bagging a 84-56 victory over Weatherly. Nativity BVM has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won eight matchups by 20 points or more this season.
Nativity BVM relied on the efforts of Trey Keating, who scored 31 points along with two steals, and Blake Adams, who dropped a double-double on 18 points and 16 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Keating has scored at least a third of Nativity BVM's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Mike Quirk, who almost dropped a triple-double on nine points, 11 rebounds, and ten assists.
Meanwhile, it may have taken double overtime to finish the job, but Pottsville ultimately got the result they hoped for on Tuesday. They skirted past North Schuylkill 68-65. Having run the score up that high, both teams might be doing some extra defensive drills very soon.
It was another big night for Letrel Montone, who scored 23 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points he has scored all season. Chase Oswald was another key contributor, scoring 15 points.
Nativity BVM's win bumped their record up to 13-9. As for Pottsville, their victory was their fifth straight at home, which pushed their record up to 16-6.
Saturday's game is shaping up to be a masterclass in shooting: Nativity BVM have been dynamite from deep this season, having made 40.4% of their threes per game. However, it's not like Pottsville struggles in that department as they've made 100% of their threes this season. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Nativity BVM was able to grind out a solid win over Pottsville in their previous meeting back in February of 2021, winning 57-49. Does Nativity BVM have another victory up their sleeve, or will Pottsville turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
