Social Circle has enjoyed the comforts of home their last three games, but now they'll head out on the road. They will challenge The Prince Avenue Christian Wolverines at 7:30 p.m. on Friday. Social Circle will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in the MaxPreps Georgia Rankings (they are ranked 296th, while Prince Avenue Christian is ranked 36th).
Last Friday, Social Circle didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against Oglethorpe County, but they still walked away with a 14-10 victory.
Social Circle can attribute much of their success to Sean Crews, who rushed for 103 yards and a touchdown on only eight carries, and also threw for 55 yards and a touchdown.
Meanwhile, Prince Avenue Christian can now show off eight landslide victories after their most recent game on Friday. They breezed by Jasper County on the road to the tune of 56-13. The win made it back-to-back wins for Prince Avenue Christian.
Aaron Philo was his usual excellent self, throwing for 250 yards and six touchdowns. Nick Hurley did his part for the team as well, scoring a TD off of 53 receiving yards.
Social Circle's victory was their fourth straight at home, bumping their overall record up to 4-5. That said, the team wasn't facing the toughest opposition over that stretch, as it included 2-7 Mount Paran Christian and 3-6 Oglethorpe County (their opponents had an average overall winning percentage of 36.1% over those games). As for Prince Avenue Christian, their victory bumped their record up to 8-1.
Friday's game might be decided on the ground as these two are both standouts in the run game. Social Circle has been excellent on the ground this season, having averaged 155 rushing yards per game. However, it's not like Prince Avenue Christian struggles in that department as they've been averaging 149.1 per game. It's looking like Friday's contest might have some serious battles in the trenches.
Social Circle was dealt a bruising 48-21 defeat at the hands of Prince Avenue Christian in their previous meeting back in November of 2022. Can Social Circle avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
