The West Cabarrus Wolverines will face off against the South Iredell Vikings at 6:30 p.m. on Friday. West Cabarrus will be strutting in after a win while South Iredell will be coming in after a defeat.
West Cabarrus is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. Everything went their way against Olympic on Thursday as West Cabarrus made off with a 22-1 victory. The win was a breath of fresh air for the Wolverines as it put an end to their five-game losing streak.
Cage Love was incredible, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, three runs, and two doubles. What's more, he posted two RBI, the most he's had since back in February. Antonio Estevez was another key player, scoring three runs while going 3-for-4.
Love wasn't the only one working in the hit department: West Cabarrus kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 19 hits. West Cabarrus is a perfect 3-0 when they post 11 or more hits.
Meanwhile, after a string of four wins, South Iredell's good fortune finally ran out on Wednesday. They fell just short of East Rowan by a score of 7-6.
Luke Snell was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: he pitched 5.1 innings while giving up just one earned (and one unearned) run off four hits. What's more, he gave up only four walks, the fewest he's had since back in May of 2024.
At the plate, Eli Beekley made the most of his time at bat despite the final result and went 1-for-3 with one home run. The team also got some help courtesy of Brady Robbins, who went 1-for-2 with two RBI and one double.
West Cabarrus picked up their first home victory, bumping their record up to 4-8. As for South Iredell, their loss dropped their record down to 8-3.
