The Corbin Redhounds will venture away from home to face off against the North Laurel Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Keep an eye on the score for this one: the two teams posted some lofty run totals in their previous games.
Corbin had to skate by with only a one-run margin when they last took the field, which might have inspired the ten-run drubbing they dealt Dixie Heights on Tuesday. The Redhounds put the hurt on the Colonels with a sharp 13-3 victory. The win was familiar territory for the Redhounds, who have now won four contests in a row.
Cruz Cima spent all six innings played on the mound, and it's clear why: he surrendered three runs (all of which were unearned) on three hits. He also tossed no earned runs, which is notable because Corbin is undefeated when he allows at most two earned runs, but 4-5 otherwise.

At the plate, Kade Elam was a standout: he scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3. He has become a key player for Corbin: the team is undefeated when he posts at least two runs, but 3-5 otherwise. Noah Cima also deserves some recognition as he launched his first home run of the season.
Corbin always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .568. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Dixie Heights only posted an OBP of .333.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask North Laurel). They never let Union County get on the board and left with a 14-0 victory on Wednesday. The Jaguars not only won on Wednesday, but they posted their biggest win since April 26, 2024.
North Laurel got a massive performance out of Carter Kelley, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. The team also got some help courtesy of Cooper Elza, who scored three runs and stole two bases while going 3-for-3.
Corbin's record now sits at 7-5. As for North Laurel, their record is now 4-6.
North Laurel's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Corbin hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .328. It's a different story for North Laurel, though, as they've only averaged .253. Will they be able to contain Corbin's hitters?
Corbin beat North Laurel 8-5 in their previous matchup back in March. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Redhounds since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
