This season hasn't been kind to the Meadowbrook Monarchs, who are still winless after their 13th matchup. They were beaten by Hopewell 57-11 on Tuesday. The loss unfortunately continues a disappointing trend for Meadowbrook in their matchups with the Blue Devils: they've now lost four in a row.
Hopewell's win was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Erin Edmonds, who scored 21 points along with six rebounds and four steals. Edmonds hasn't dropped below 21 points for four straight games. Another player making a difference was Keeniya Kelly, who scored 13 points along with seven steals.
Meadowbrook dropped their record down to 0-13 with that loss, which was their 11th straight at home dating back to last season. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 9.9 points per game. As for Hopewell, the victory was the fourth in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 15-2.
Both squads are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Meadowbrook will take on the Royals at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Hopewell, they will be playing at home against the Warriors at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. Matoaca is also coming in off of a big victory, so somebody is in for a big reversal of fortune.
