The Oak Ridge Blue Jays will square off against the Plato Eagles at 1:00 p.m. on Monday. Oak Ridge will come into the matchup with an undefeated record on the line.
Oak Ridge is on a roll after a high-stakes playoff matchup on Wednesday. Their pitcher stepped up to hand Holcomb a 7-0 shutout. Considering the Blue Jays have won 20 contests by more than six runs this season, Wednesday's blowout was nothing new.
Holcomb's batters probably weren't too happy with Kaelyn Deckerd, who pitched a no hitter and racked up 17 Ks (she gave up zero walks). Deckerd has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in 23 consecutive appearances.
On the hitting side, the team relied heavily on Sydney Bush, who went 2-for-3 with three RBI, one triple, and one run. That's the most RBI she has posted since back in April. Another player making a difference was Miley Glueck, who went 2-for-3 with two runs and one RBI.
Meanwhile, Plato posted their closest victory since March 24th on Wednesday. They had just enough and edged out Bernie 7-6.
Taylor Utley spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered three earned (and three unearned) runs on ten hits.
At the plate, Maci Shalbot was incredible, going 2-for-3 with three stolen bases, two runs, and two RBI. The team also got some help courtesy of Presley Sigmon, who went 1-for-2 with three stolen bases and two runs.
Oak Ridge's record now sits at 25-0. As for Plato, their record is now 25-7.
The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Monday as neither team is afraid to steal. Oak Ridge has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 3.5 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Plato struggles in that department as they've been averaging 9 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.
