If Van Wert wanted to avenge their loss from the last time they played Shawnee, they should've done a better job of containing Karleigh Hutchins. The Indians put the hurt on the Cougars with a sharp 3-0 win on Thursday with plenty of help from Hutchins, who had 12 aces, ten digs, and eight kills. She has been hot recently, having posted eight or more kills the last three times she's played.
The 3-0 score doesn't show just how dominant Shawnee was: they took every set by at least 13 points. Once all was said and done, the final score wound up at 25-6, 25-12, 25-5.
Shawnee relied on the efforts of Chelsea Burkholder, who had 21 assists and four digs, and Sami Rettig, who had eight digs and two aces.
They weren't the only good servers: Shawnee was lethal from the service line and finished the match with 23 aces. That's the most aces they've managed all season.
Meanwhile, Ottawa-Glandorf made easy work of Celina on Thursday and carried off a 3-0 victory.
Ottawa-Glandorf not only won, but also showed off some consistency: they kept Celina between 16 and 17 points across their sets. The match finished with set scores of 25-16, 25-17, 25-16.
Ottawa-Glandorf's win bumped their record up to 17-4. As for Shawnee, their victory bumped their record up to 14-5.
