Edon hasn't had much luck against Prairie Heights recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Bombers will face off against the Panthers at 5:30 p.m. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, these teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Lakewood Park Christian hit Edon with a five-run first inning on Thursday, which goes a long way in explaining the final result. The Bombers fell just short of the Panthers by a score of 11-10. Surprisingly, this marked the fourth straight game in which the away team has come away the victor in this series.
Edon got a massive performance out of Amanda Schwartz, who went 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and two RBI. That triple marked the first that Schwartz has hit this season. Alysa Smith was another key player, going 1-for-3 with two runs, two RBI, and one double.
Meanwhile, Prairie Heights got the win against Westview on Thursday by a conclusive 12-6. With that victory, the Panthers brought their scoring average up to 6.4 runs per game.
Allie Hardy made a big impact no matter where she played. On the mound, she struck out seven batters over four innings while giving up just one earned run off five hits (and not a single walk). She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run in seven consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, firing off two home runs, three runs, and four RBI while going 3-for-3. Those four RBI gave her a new career-high.
In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Bailee Godsey, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three runs, and three RBI. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two). Another player making a difference was Hayley Hardy, who went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI.
Prairie Heights always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .528. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Westview only posted an OBP of .355.
Prairie Heights is on a roll lately: they've won four of their last five games. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-4 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 8.6 runs over those games. As for Edon, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-12.
Friday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Edon hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .381. However, it's not like Prairie Heights struggles in that department as they've averaged .338. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Edon suffered a grim 14-3 defeat to Prairie Heights in their previous matchup back in May of 2025. Can the Bombers avenge their loss or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
