Basketball Game Preview: Springfield Wildcats vs. Trotwood-Madison Rams

The Springfield Wildcats are taking a road trip to take on the Trotwood-Madison Rams at 7:00 p.m. on Monday.

Last Saturday, Springfield was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 60-55 to Beavercreek.

Even though the team lost, they still had their share of impressive performances. One of the best came from Dayveona Boynton, who went 7 for 14 on her way to 16 points in addition to six rebounds and three steals. She has been hot, having posted two or more steals the last six times she's played. The team also got some help courtesy of Jada Crockran, who posted ten points in addition to five assists and four steals.

Meanwhile, Trotwood-Madison can finally bid farewell to their eight-game losing streak dating back to last season thanks to their game last Saturday. They couldn't have asked for a better start to 2025 than the 47-17 blowout they got against Western Hills. The Rams' offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Trotwood-Madison found their leader in sophomore Janiyah Boykin, who had nine points and six steals. Those six steals set a new season-high mark for Boykin. The team also got some help courtesy of Tierra Howard, who put up eight points.

Trotwood-Madison was working as a unit and finished the game with 11 assists. That's the most assists they've managed all season.

Springfield now has a losing record at 6-7. As for Trotwood-Madison, their win ended a seven-game drought at home dating back to last season and bumped them up to 1-7.

Everything came up roses for Springfield against Trotwood-Madison in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, as the team secured a 67-21 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Springfield since the squad won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
