Softball Recap: Ragland Gets the Win

Ragland was handed a heart-breaking two-run loss in their last contest, but they sure didn't let that happen against Jefferson Christian Academy on Tuesday. The Purple Devils never let the Eagles get on the board and left with a 15-0 victory. The Purple Devils haven't had any issues with the Eagles recently, as the game was their sixth consecutive win against them.

Alyssa Broome was a major factor no matter where she played. She kept things locked down with no earned runs or hits while striking out seven over four innings pitched. Those seven strikeouts gave her a new career-high. She was also big at the plate, going 1-for-4 with one home run and three RBI.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Beverly Alexander, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two stolen bases, three runs, and one double. Those three runs gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Anna Burnham, who went a perfect 3-for-3 with two runs, one stolen base, and one double.

Ragland always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .677. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.

Ragland's victory bumped their record up to 5-11. As for Jefferson Christian Academy, their record is now 0-2.

Coming up, Ragland will take on Victory Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Monday. As for Jefferson Christian Academy, they will square off against Fultondale at 4:30 p.m. on Thursday.
