Garinger has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won five games by 35 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 65-16 victory over West Mecklenburg at home. The contest was pretty much decided by the half, when the score had already reached 40-5.
Garinger found their leader in underclassman Misa Garris, who scored 16 points along with 9 steals and 5 assists. The match was Garris' seventh in a row with at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kim?mya Kelly, who scored 13 points.
Meanwhile, Butler was able to grind out a solid victory over Weddington on Tuesday, taking the game 54-41.
Butler relied on the efforts of Charlotte Hasson, who went 6 for 9 from beyond the arc en route to 21 points and 1 assists, and Brooklyn Saunders, who scored 17 points along with 6 assists and 6 rebounds. That makes it three consecutive games in which Saunders has scored at least 25% of Butler's points. Joy Park was another key contributor, scoring 11 points.
Garinger has yet to lose a contest at home this season, leaving them with a 7-0 record. As for Butler, their victory bumped their record up to 3-1.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Garinger have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 43.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Butler struggles in that department as they've been averaging 25.5 per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
