The Patriots fell just short of the Hawks by a score of 3-2 on Friday. Having soared to a lofty ten runs in the game before, the Patriots couldn't push the score so high this time.
Jackson Prep saw four different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Gardner Young, who scored a run and stole a base while going 1-for-3.
Meanwhile, Presbyterian Christian got themselves on the board against St. Joseph Catholic on Friday, but St. Joseph Catholic never followed suit. They blew past the Bruins 10-0.
Brennon Thoms was a major factor no matter where he played. He didn't allow a single earned run over four innings pitched. He has been nothing but reliable on the mound: he hasn't given up more than two walks in six consecutive appearances. He was also stellar in the batter's box, scoring two runs and stealing two bases while going 1-for-2. That's the most runs he has posted since back in March.
In other pitching news, Cash James looked comfortable as he pitched one inning while giving up no earned runs or hits. He has been consistent for a while: he hasn't given up more than two hits in ten consecutive appearances.
Back at the plate, the team relied heavily on Jet Henderson, who scored two runs and stole a base while going 2-for-4. Reed Bridges was another key player, going 1-for-3 with one home run.
Jackson Prep's defeat dropped their record down to 16-10-1. As for Presbyterian Christian, their record now sits at 15-10.
Presbyterian Christian's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: Jackson Prep hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .327. It's a different story for Presbyterian Christian, though, as they've only averaged .245. Will they be able to contain Jackson Prep's hitters?
Jackson Prep was able to grind out a solid win over Presbyterian Christian in their previous meeting back in May of 2024, winning 9-4.
