Baseball Game Preview: Forrest County Agricultural Aggies vs. St. Stanislaus Rock-a-Chaws

The Forrest County Agricultural Aggies will face off against the St. Stanislaus Rock-a-Chaws at 1:00 p.m. on Saturday. The two teams each escaped (but just barely!) with wins against their previous opponents.

Forrest County Agricultural is headed in fresh off scoring the most runs they have all season. They had just enough and edged out Sumrall 15-13. The high-scoring effort was just what the Aggies needed considering they were shut out in their previous game.

Forrest County Agricultural let Sean Walker and Landen Grice run wild. Walker scored two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances, while Grice scored two runs and stole a base while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Grice is becoming a predictor of Forrest County Agricultural's success: when he posts at least two runs the team is 4-1 (and 7-9 when he doesn't). Ethan Norman was another key player, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

Forrest County Agricultural lost a few balls and finished the game with two home runs. That's the most home runs they've managed all season.

Meanwhile, St. Stanislaus posted their closest victory since April 12, 2024 on Thursday. They had just enough and edged out Pleasure Ridge Park 9-8.

Brooks Ilgenfritz and Cole Shirley did most of the damage at the plate: Ilgenfritz went a perfect 3-for-3 with two RBI and one double, while Shirley scored three runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Those three runs gave Shirley a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Stephen Hutchison, who scored a run and stole two bases while going 1-for-3.

St. Stanislaus' win ended a four-game drought at home and bumped them up to 14-9. As for Forrest County Agricultural, they now have a winning record of 11-10.
