Pillager is 9-1 against Sebeka since February of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Pillager Huskies will be playing in front of their home fans against the Sebeka Trojans at 7:30 p.m. Keep an eye on the score for this one: both teams posted some lofty point totals in their previous games.
Pillager put the finishing touches on their eighth blowout victory of the season on Thursday. They blew past Wadena-Deer Creek 80-58. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Pillager.
Pillager's victory was a true team effort, with many players turning in solid performances. Perhaps the best among them was Parker Schaefer, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and ten rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Christian Hooge, who dropped a double-double on 17 points and 21 rebounds.
Meanwhile, Sebeka had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 21.5 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Friday. They secured a 72-66 W over Menahga.
Sebeka's win was the result of several impressive offensive performances. One of the most notable came from Jasper Hosey, who scored 21 points along with eight rebounds and four steals. Teagen Lee was another key contributor, scoring 15 points along with eight rebounds and five assists.
Pillager has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven games, which provided a nice bump to their 13-9 record this season. As for Sebeka, they pushed their record up to 10-11 with that victory, which was their third straight at home.
This contest is one where the number of possessions is likely to be a big factor: Pillager have been smashing the glass this season, having averaged 41.4 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Sebeka struggles in that department as they've been averaging 28 rebounds per game. Given these competing strengths, it'll be interesting to see how their clash plays out.
Pillager was able to grind out a solid win over Sebeka in their previous meeting back in January, winning 67-57. Will Pillager repeat their success, or does Sebeka have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
