After flying high against the Carrizozo Grizzlies last Tuesday, the Alamo Navajo Cougars came back down to earth. Alamo Navajo took a 41-35 hit to the loss column at the hands of Corona/Vaughn. Alamo Navajo was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as Corona/Vaughn apparently hadn't forgotten their loss the last time these teams played back in February of 2023.
Leading Corona/Vaughn to victory were Kourtney Brandenberger and Harper Dunn. Brandenberger scored 15 points along with seven steals, while Dunn dropped a triple-double on 18 points, 21 rebounds, and 11 blocks. That makes it four consecutive games in which Dunn has scored at least a third of Corona/Vaughn's points.
Alamo Navajo's defeat dropped their record down to 9-8. As for Corona/Vaughn, the victory (which was their fourth in a row) raised their record to 7-3.
Alamo Navajo will be playing at home against Mountainair at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Corona/Vaughn, they will head out on the road to face off against Lake Arthur at 4:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Lake Arthur comes in on a streak of failing to score more than 14 points in their last three games, a trend the team is of course eager to reverse.
