Basketball Recap: Catholic Central Skates Past Northeastern with Ease

After having lost a blowout in their previous game against West Liberty-Salem, Catholic Central was happy to have turned things around on Wednesday. They blew past the Northeastern Jets 56-28. The Irish's offense stepped up their game for this one, as that was the most points they've scored all season.

Despite the loss, Northeastern still got an impressive performance from Danielle Phelan, who posted 11 points and seven rebounds. The dominant performance gave Phelan a new career-high in points. The team also got some help courtesy of Alison Shaner, who put up six points and five rebounds.

Catholic Central's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 2-10. As for Northeastern, they are on a 27-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Catholic Central will welcome West Jefferson at 12:00 p.m. on Saturday. As for Northeastern, they won't have much time to rest: their next matchup is against Madison Plains at 7:30 p.m. on Thursday. Northeastern has been getting the ball to fall more lately as they've increased their point totals each of their last three games.
