The Apex Cougars lost against the Leesville Road Pride back in November of 2019, and unfortunately they wound up with the same result on Tuesday. Apex took a 47-40 hit to the loss column at the hands of Leesville Road. Apex has struggled against Leesville Road recently, as their match on Tuesday was their fourth consecutive lost matchup.
Analiza Whittlesey and Destiny Richardson certainly did their best on Tuesday to try and avoid the loss. Whittlesey dropped a double-double on 12 points and 12 rebounds, while Richardson scored 8 points along with 8 rebounds and 3 steals. Whittlesey scored a full 30% of Apex's points, the second time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. Isabella Pease was another key contributor, scoring 6 points along with 5 rebounds and 4 blocks.
Apex's defeat dropped their record down to 1-1. As for Leesville Road, the win makes it two in a row for them and bumps their season record up to 2-0.
Apex will be playing in front of their home fans against Fuquay - Varina at 6:00 p.m. on Thursday. As for Leesville Road, they will head out on the road to face off against Heritage at 6:30 p.m. on Friday.
