The Reed Raiders will face off against the Arbor View Aggies at 8:00 a.m. on Saturday. Reed is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.8 runs per game this season.
Reed saw some tournament action on Friday. They lost 12-1 to Mililani. The Raiders have now taken an 'L' in back-to-back games.
Reed saw five different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Britney Taelour, who went 1-for-2 with one RBI.
Meanwhile, winning is always nice, but doing so behind a season-high score is even better (just ask Arbor View). Everything went their way against Sultana on Friday as they made off with a 16-1 win. The result was nothing new for the Aggies, who have now won six contests by seven runs or more so far this season.
Ella Sproule looked comfortable as she tossed three innings while giving up no earned runs off four hits. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't given up a single earned run in three consecutive appearances.
At the plate, Madilyn Lowy was incredible, going a perfect 2-for-2 with five RBI, two runs, and one triple. Those five RBI gave her a new career-high. Audrey Melton was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with two runs and two RBI.
Arbor View was getting hits left and right and finished the game having posted a batting average of .650. They are a perfect 5-0 when they post a batting average of .375 or better.
Arbor View has been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine matchups. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-5 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Reed, their defeat dropped their record down to 9-5.
Saturday's game might come down to which pitcher can control the ball better. Reed has hit smart this season, having averaged an OBP of .484. However, it's not like Arbor View struggles in that department as they've averaged .449. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
