Softball Recap: Thornwood Wins Going Away Against Thornridge

Thornwood's game on Thursday was a loss, but they didn't let that memory haunt them on Monday. They put the hurt on the Thornridge Falcons with a sharp 22-5 victory. The Thunderbirds might be getting used to big wins seeing as the team has won 14 games by nine runs or more this season.

Milan Crain was a standout: she went a perfect 2-for-2 with one home run, two stolen bases, and three runs. Akira Jones was another key player, going a perfect 2-for-2 with three stolen bases, three runs, and one triple.

They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Thornwood kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They are a perfect 10-0 when they post 11 or more hits.

Thornwood's win was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-6. Those road victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 22.7 runs over those games. As for Thornridge, they are on a 32-game losing streak (dating back to last season) that has dropped them down to 0-13.

Coming up, Thornwood will be playing at home against Rich Township at 4:30 a.m. on Tuesday. Thornridge will be paying especially close attention to the Thunderbirds' contest: after the Thunderbirds face off against the Raptors, they'll take on Thornridge again at 4:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
