The Tocoi Creek Toros will challenge the Beachside Barracudas at 6:00 p.m. on Friday. Tocoi Creek is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 6.3 runs per game this season.
Tocoi Creek will bounce into Friday's game after beating Ponte Vedra, who they had gone 0-4 against in their four prior meetings. The Toros walked away with a 5-1 victory over the Sharks on Monday. The win made it back-to-back victories for the Toros.
Hannah Jones spent all seven innings on the mound, and it's clear why: she surrendered only one earned run on two hits and racked up 12 Ks. She has been consistent: she hasn't given up more than one earned run any time she's pitched this season.
At the plate, Tocoi Creek's win was truly a team effort as seven different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Makenna Miller, who went 2-for-4 with two RBI and one double. That double was Miller's first of the season. Another was Lily Turski, who earned two runs and two stolen bases.
They weren't the only ones making solid contact: Tocoi Creek kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 11 hits. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Ponte Vedra only managed two.
Meanwhile, Beachside was not able to break out of their rough patch on Wednesday as the team picked up their third straight loss. They were two runs away from ending the streak, but they lost a 6-4 heartbreaker at the hands of Ridgeview. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest defeat the Barracudas have suffered since April 22, 2025.
Tatum Pocol was cooking despite her team's loss, going 3-for-4 with one run and one RBI.
Tocoi Creek's victory bumped their record up to 5-1. As for Beachside, they now have a losing record of 3-4.
Beachside's hitters will have their work cut out for them on Friday. Tocoi Creek has been retiring batters left and right this season, having averaged 9 strikeouts per game. It's a different story for Beachside, though, as they've been averaging only 2.7 strikeouts. Will Tocoi Creek keep running through batters, or will the Barracudas buck the trend?
Everything went Tocoi Creek's way against Beachside in their previous meeting back in April of 2025, as Tocoi Creek made off with an 11-1 win. Will the Toros repeat their success, or do the Barracudas have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
