The Gilroy Mustangs will venture away from home to face off against the Westmont Warriors at 4:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Gilroy is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8 runs per game this season.
Gilroy's pitching crew heads into the contest hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Tuesday. They put the hurt on Hollister with a sharp 12-0 win. Considering the Mustangs have won seven matchups by more than seven runs this season, Tuesday's blowout was nothing new.

Ariela Yslava was a major factor while hitting and pitching. She didn't allow a single earned run over five innings pitched. She has been nothing but reliable on the mound: she hasn't tossed less than five strikeouts in ten consecutive appearances. She was also stellar in the batter's box, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, five RBI, and two runs.
In other batting news, Dani Wilson and Jennie Hernandez did most of the damage at the plate: Wilson scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-3, while Hernandez went 1-for-2 with one home run, two runs, and two RBI. That's the most runs Hernandez has posted since back in May of 2024. Bam Mendoza was another key player, scoring a run while going 2-for-3.
Gilroy always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .593. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Hollister only posted an OBP of .316.
Meanwhile, Westmont unfortunately witnessed the end of their three-game winning streak on Saturday. They fell just short of Hillsdale by a score of 6-4.
Regan Steele was a force to be reckoned with on the mound despite the final result: she tossed 4.2 innings while giving up just one earned run off four hits.
On the hitting side, Marina Li made the most of her time at bat despite the final result and scored a run and stole a base while going 2-for-3. Another player making a difference was Rylin Yee, who got on base in all four of her plate appearances with one RBI.
Gilroy is on a roll lately: they've won seven of their last eight games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-4 record this season. The victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 9.1 runs over those games. As for Westmont, their loss dropped their record down to 9-8.
Gilroy took their win against Westmont in their previous meeting back in April of 2024 by a conclusive 15-2 score. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Mustangs since the team won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
