Juarez-Lincoln hasn't had much luck against Mission recently, but that could start to change on Tuesday. The Juarez-Lincoln Huskies will host the Mission Eagles at 6:00 p.m. Juarez-Lincoln is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 8.5 runs per game this season.
Juarez-Lincoln will bounce into Tuesday's match after beating Roma, who they had gone 0-5 against in their five prior meetings. Juarez-Lincoln walked away with a 12-7 victory over Roma on Friday. While the Huskies didn't have the best season last year (they finished 7-17), it's starting to look like those struggles are a thing of the past.
Natalie Gonzalez made a splash no matter where she played. She looked comfortable on the mound, striking out six batters over seven innings while giving up five earned (and two unearned) runs off 12 hits (and only one walk). She has been nothing but reliable: she hasn't given up more than two walks in three consecutive appearances. She was even better at the plate, scoring two runs while going 2-for-4.

In other batting news, April Marroquin was incredible, scoring two runs while getting on base in four of her five plate appearances. What's more, she posted two RBI, the most she's had since back in April of 2024. Another player making a difference was Alexandra Marroquin, who scored three runs while going 3-for-4.
Meanwhile, Mission didn't have quite enough to beat Mission Veterans Memorial on Friday and fell 8-7.
Breanna Longoria was cooking despite her team's loss, going 1-for-4 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base. The team also got some help courtesy of Ilia Fiscal, who went 1-for-4 with two RBI.
Even though they lost, Mission hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now struck out at most five strikeouts in six consecutive games.
Juarez-Lincoln has been performing well recently as they've won five of their last six contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 8-2 record this season. A key ingredient in that success has been their performance when it comes to hits: they averaged an imposing ten hits in those games compared to only 3.75 in the others. Mission's defeat was their first in the district, dropping their district record down to 2-1 and their overall record down to 3-6.
Tuesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Juarez-Lincoln hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .346. However, it's not like Mission struggles in that department as they've averaged .397. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Juarez-Lincoln might still be hurting after the 15-0 loss they got from Mission in their previous matchup back in April of 2022. Can Juarez-Lincoln avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
