Gadsden County is 5-0 against the War Eagles since November of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Monday. The Gadsden County Jaguars will be staying on the road to face off against the Wakulla War Eagles on February 5th. Having both just faced considerable losses, both teams are looking to turn things around.
Gadsden County lost a heartbreaker when they last took the court, but unfortunately for them the defeat they were handed on on Thursday was a bit more commanding. They had to suffer through a rough 61-25 loss at the hands of Lincoln. Gadsden County has not had much luck with the Trojans recently, as the team's come up short the last three times they've met.
Despite the loss, Gadsden County had strong showings from Khyla Robinson, who scored nine points, and Camyria Clemons, who scored seven points.
Meanwhile, after soaring to 69 points the game before, Wakulla were a bit more limited in their matchup on Thursday. They were outmatched by Liberty County at home and fell 54-24.
Despite the defeat, Wakulla saw an underclassman step up: Amariyah Donaldson dropped a double-double on 14 points and ten rebounds. Donaldson is crushing the block category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Cherish Bolen, who scored four points along with four steals.
Gadsden County's loss was their fifth straight on the road, which dropped their record down to 5-11. That rough patch could be blamed on the team's offensive performance across that stretch, as they only averaged 26.4 points per game. As for Wakulla, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-11.
Gadsden County didn't have too much breathing room in their contest against the War Eagles when the teams last played last Thursday, but they still walked away with a 55-50 victory. The rematch might be a little tougher for Gadsden County since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
