Luverne is 8-2 against Windom since May of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Cardinals will venture away from home to take on the Eagles at 5:30 p.m. Luverne will be strutting in after a win while Windom will be coming in after a defeat.
On Tuesday, Luverne got the win against Jackson County Central by a conclusive 19-1. The result was nothing new for the Cardinals, who have now won five contests by eight runs or more so far this season.
Blake Sauer made a splash while hitting and pitching. On the mound, he tossed two innings while giving up no earned runs off two hits. The dominant performance also gave him a new career-high in strikeouts (five). He was also solid in the batter's box, earning one RBI, one run, and two stolen bases.

In other batting news, the team relied heavily on Carter Sehr, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with five runs, six RBI, and two triples. That's the most hits he has posted since back in May of 2024. Landon Ahrendt was another key player, going a perfect 3-for-3 with three runs and one double.
Luverne always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .643. That's the best OBP they've posted all season.
Meanwhile, Windom entered their game against Pipestone on Tuesday without any home losses, but there's a first time for everything. The Eagles fell 9-4 to the Arrows. The matchup marked the Eagles' lowest-scoring contest so far this season.
Quintin Tietz was cooking despite his team's loss, going 1-for-3 with two runs, one triple, and one stolen base. Tietz is crushing it when it comes to stolen bases: he's snagged at least one every time he's taken the field this season.
Luverne's victory was their eighth straight on the road dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 5-2. Those road wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 15.0 runs over those games. As for Windom, their loss dropped their record down to 6-2.
Tuesday's game will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Luverne hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .407. However, it's not like Windom struggles in that department as they've averaged .387. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Luverne beat Windom 11-7 when the teams last played back in April of 2024. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Cardinals since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
