After a string of four wins, the Franklin-Simpson Wildcats's good fortune finally ran out on Tuesday. They took a 72-64 hit to the loss column at the hands of Butler County. Franklin-Simpson was given a dose of their own medicine in this game as the Bears apparently hadn't forgotten their defeat the last time these teams played back in February of 2022.
Leading Butler County to victory were Ty Price and Lawson Rice. Price scored 28 points along with two steals, while Rice dropped a double-double on 21 points and 13 rebounds. Price is crushing the point category: he's posted at least 17 every time he's taken the court this season. Another player making a difference was Justin Castlen, who scored nine points along with six rebounds.
Franklin-Simpson's loss dropped their record down to 11-8. As for Butler County, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won six of their last seven matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 12-6 record this season.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. Franklin-Simpson will take on the Panthers at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Russellville is no doubt hoping to put an end to a six-game streak of away losses. As for Butler County, their homestand continues as they prepare to take on the Cougars at 7:30 p.m. on February 2nd.
