Belgreen has enjoyed a two-game homestand but will soon have to dust off their road jerseys. They will take on the Dora Bulldogs in a holiday battle at 4:00 p.m. on Monday at. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, both teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Belgreen has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won three matches by 20 points or more this season. They claimed a resounding 55-19 win over Phillips at home. Given Belgreen's advantage in MaxPreps' Alabama basketball rankings (they are ranked 104th, while Phillips is ranked 407th), the result on Tuesday wasn't entirely unexpected.
Meanwhile, Dora came tearing into Saturday's matchup with eight straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 27 points) and they left with even more momentum. They came out on top against Phil Campbell by a score of 60-53. 60 seems to be a good number for Dora as the team scooped up a win with the same number of points in their previous game.
It was another big night for Bella Reese, who dropped a double-double on 19 points and 15 rebounds. Reese is absolutely dominating the steal category: she's posted at least two every time she's taken the court this season. The team also got some help courtesy of Ja'laya Harris, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and five steals.
Belgreen's win was their ninth straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 8-2. Those good results were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 56.6 points per game. As for Dora, their win bumped their record up to 10-3.
Belgreen couldn't quite finish off Dora when the teams last played back in December of 2022 and fell 64-61. Can Belgreen avenge their defeat or is history doomed to repeat itself? We'll find out soon enough.
