The Christian Community Colts had already won two in a row (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 16 points), and they went ahead and made it three on Saturday. They managed a 31-27 victory over Tennessee Heat. Given Christian Community's advantage in MaxPreps' Tennessee basketball rankings (they are ranked 130th, while Tennessee Heat is ranked 323rd), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Christian Community found their leader in underclassman Autumn Ray, who scored 13 points. A.C. Caverly was another key contributor, scoring 7 points.
Despite the loss, Tennessee Heat saw an underclassman step up: Charis Cook scored 18 points. Cook scored a full 66.7% of Tennessee Heat's points, the third time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Emilie Encke, who scored 3 points along with 3 steals.
Christian Community now has a winning record of 4-3. As for Tennessee Heat, their defeat dropped their record down to 2-5.
Coincidentally, the pair will both be playing Franklin Road Christian the next time they take the court. Tennessee Heat will host Franklin Road Christian at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday, while Christian Community will head out to face them at 4:00 p.m. on Saturday.
