Union Springs is on a four-game streak of home wins, while Moravia is on a three-game streak of away wins: one of those streaks is about to end. Union Springs' pitching crew heads into the matchup hoping to repeat the dominance they displayed on Monday. They put the hurt on Marathon with a sharp 12-0 victory. Considering the Wolves have won six contests by more than 11 runs this season, Monday's blowout was nothing new.
Abbi Tracy was incredible, going 2-for-3 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Another player making a difference was Gracie Chalupnicki, who went 1-for-2 with two runs, one double, and one RBI.
Union Springs hit smart and finished the game with only one strikeout. The team has now struck out at least five batters in three consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Moravia unfortunately witnessed the end of their six-game winning streak on Tuesday. They fell 8-5 to Tioga.
Alexis Freier was cooking despite her team's loss, going 2-for-3 with one triple, two RBI, and one double. That double was her first of the season.
Union Springs' win bumped their record up to 8-1. As for Moravia, their loss dropped their record down to 7-5.
Wednesday's matchup will be a test for both teams' pitchers. Union Springs hasn't had any issues making contact this season, having earned a batting average of .366. However, it's not like Moravia struggles in that department as they've averaged .337. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
