Derek Tarnoski was a major factor while hitting and pitching. He looked comfortable on the mound, striking out ten batters over five innings while giving up just one earned run off one hit (and not a single walk). He has been nothing but reliable: he hasn't given up more than two walks in eight consecutive appearances. He was also big at the plate, getting on base in four of his five plate appearances with three runs, four RBI, and one double. Those four RBI gave him a new career-high.
In other batting news, Sam Somarakis was a standout: he went a perfect 2-for-2 with three RBI, two runs, and one triple. Another player making a difference was Cade Horrocks, who went 2-for-4 with three runs, one stolen base, and two RBI.
King's Way Christian always had someone on base and finished the game having posted an OBP of .700. They easily outclassed their opponents in that department as Fort Vancouver only posted an OBP of .062.
King's Way Christian is on a roll lately: they've won nine of their last ten contests. That's provided a nice bump to their 13-4 record this season. Those victories came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 12.7 runs over those games. As for Fort Vancouver, they are on a five-game losing streak that has dropped them down to 5-10.
Fort Vancouver's pitching crew has a crucial task ahead of them: King's Way Christian has been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 9.6 hits per game. It's a different story for Fort Vancouver, though, as they've been averaging 10.5 hits. Given King's Way Christian's sizable advantage in that area, the Trappers will need to find a way to close that gap. Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
