Culver Academies had lost three straight on the road, but on Thursday they dropped down to 3-8-1 to make it four. They came up short against the North Judson-San Pierre Bluejays, falling 20-1. The Eagles were not able to make up for their loss to the Bluejays from their previous meeting back in April of 2024.
Culver Academies saw three different players step up and record at least one hit. One of them was Madi Walczak, who went 1-for-2 with one stolen base and one run. Brielle Voves also deserves some recognition as she hit her first double of the season.
As for North Judson-San Pierre, they are on a roll lately: they've won eight of their last ten games. That's provided a nice bump to their 14-8 record this season. Those wins came thanks in part to their hitting performance across that stretch, as they averaged 10.2 runs over those games.
On North Judson-San Pierre's side, Molly Madsen made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run and allowing only two hits over 4.2 innings pitched. Madsen has been consistent for a while: she hasn't given up more than two walks in nine consecutive appearances. She was also big at the plate, going a perfect 3-for-3 with one home run, four RBI, and two runs. The dominant performance also gave her a new career-high in doubles (two).
In other batting news, Sophia Chaffins was a standout: she went a perfect 4-for-4 with one home run, three RBI, and two runs. Those three RBI gave her a new career-high. Another player making a difference was Charlize Boyd, who went a perfect 4-for-4 with four RBI, two runs, and one stolen base.
Coming up, Culver Academies will face off against Plymouth at 6:00 p.m. on Monday. The Eagles' pitchers better be ready for this one: the Pilgrims have averaged an impressive 8.7 runs per game this season. As for North Judson-San Pierre, they didn't take long to hit the field again: they've already played their next matchup, a 9-4 defeat against Kouts on the 22nd.
