Howells-Dodge is 2-0 against Bloomfield since September of 2014, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Thursday. The Howells-Dodge Jaguars will head out on the road to face off against the Bloomfield Bees at 7:00 p.m. Howells-Dodge will be strutting in after a win while Bloomfield will be coming in after a defeat.
Last Friday, everything came up roses for Howells-Dodge at home against Walthill as the team secured a 48-8 victory. Howells-Dodge's offense checked out after the first half but had enough points banked to take the game anyway.
Howells-Dodge found their leader in underclassman Hunter Luther, who rushed for 244 yards and six touchdowns while picking up 10.6 yards per carry. Cooper Kreikemeier and his 97 yards on the ground were also a key factor in Howells-Dodge's win.
Meanwhile, Bloomfield faced Wynot in a battle between two of the state's top teams. Bloomfield fell to Wynot 36-30. Bloomfield's defeat signaled the end of their 5-game winning streak.
Even though the team lost, they still came through with several impressive performances. One of the most dominant came from Wiley Ziegler, who rushed for 153 yards and a touchdown while picking up 7.7 yards per carry. Ziegler is on a roll when it comes to rushing yards, as he's now rushed for 100 or more in the last three games he's played. Another player making a difference was Braeden Guenther, who threw for 80 yards and three touchdowns while completing 80% of his passes.
Howells-Dodge has been performing well recently as they've won four of their last five games, which provided a nice bump to their 6-2 record this season. As for Bloomfield, their defeat dropped their record down to an identical 6-2.
Keep an eye on the end zone in Thursday's game as the two teams haven't had much trouble getting there this season. Howells-Dodge commands a daunting offense this season, having averaged 5.9 touchdowns per game. However, it's not like Bloomfield struggles in that department as they've been averaging 5.1 per game. With these two high-octane teams facing off on Thursday, fans should be in for an exciting offensive matchup.
