Basketball Recap: Pensacola Christian Academy Falls Despite Big Games from Mateus Moreira and Jake Stoodt

After flying high against Santa Rosa Christian last Monday, Pensacola Christian Academy came back down to earth. The Pensacola Christian Academy Warriors fell 58-47 to the West Florida Baptist Academy Conquerors on Tuesday. While losing is never fun, the Warriors can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 477th, while the Conquerors are ranked 225th).

Pensacola Christian Academy's defeat shouldn't obscure the performances of Jake Stoodt, who went 7 of 11 en route to 18 points and five rebounds, and Mateus Moreira, who went 6 of 11 on his way to 15 points and three steals. Stoodt's evening made it three games in a row in which he has scored at least ten points. The team also got some help courtesy of Stephen Day, who posted four points and eight rebounds.

It was another big night for Kaleb Wiggins, who went 11 of 19 on his way to 28 points along with eight boards and four steals for West Florida Baptist Academy. Wiggins has been hot recently, having posted two or more steals the last three times he's played. Sam Pearce was another key player, going 5 of 8 on his way to 10 points and five rebounds.

Pensacola Christian Academy now has a losing record at 4-5. As for West Florida Baptist Academy, the victory was the third in a row for them, bringing their record for this year to 10-2.

Pensacola Christian Academy wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next game, a 74-64 win against Aletheia Christian Academy on the 13th. As for West Florida Baptist Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next matchup, a 60-39 victory against L.E.A.D. Academy on the 12th.
