Taylor hasn't had much luck against Sheridan recently, but that could start to change on Friday. The Taylor Titans will look to defend their home court against the Sheridan Blackhawks at 6:00 p.m.
It's never fun to lose, and it's even less fun to lose 58-29, which was the final score in Taylor's tilt against Rochester on Monday. While losing is never fun, the Titans can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Indiana basketball rankings (they are ranked 355th, while the Zebras are ranked 110th).
The losing side was boosted by Jallainah Harris, who almost dropped a double-double on 17 points and nine rebounds. That was a full 58.6% of Taylor's points, marking the fifth time in a row she's posted more than a third of the team's points.
Even though they lost, Taylor smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 11 offensive rebounds. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now pulled down at least 11 offensive boards in seven consecutive games.
Meanwhile, Sheridan came tearing into Wednesday's match with 17 straight wins (a stretch where they outscored their opponents by an average of 28.1 points) and they left with even more momentum. They enjoyed a cozy 72-55 victory over the Mounties.
Sheridan had a senior duo take command as Kenzie Garner shot 5-for-9 from deep and almost dropped a double-double on 24 points and nine boards and Cecilia Timme went 10 of 20 on her way to 23 points along with eight rebounds and five assists. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Timme has scored all season. The team also got some help courtesy of Brielle Garner, who went 5 for 11 en route to 15 points and four steals.
Sheridan's win was their eighth straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 20-1. As for Taylor, their defeat dropped their record down to 5-17.
Rebounding is likely to be a big factor in this contest: Taylor has been crashing the boards this season, having averaged 30.7 rebounds per game. However, it's not like Sheridan struggles in that department as they've been averaging 30.8 boards. With both teams battling to corral missed shots, we'll see if one team can grab an edge.
Taylor took a serious blow against Sheridan in their previous meeting back in January of 2024, falling 79-24. Will Taylor have more luck at home instead of on the road? Check back here after the action for a full breakdown and analysis of the contest.
