The Cypress Ranch Mustangs will look to defend their home court on Tuesday against the Cypress Park Tigers at 7:00 p.m. Both teams took a loss in their last game, so they'll have plenty of motivation to get the 'W'.
Cypress Ranch has been a dominant force so far, but they're in the middle of a mini-slump at the moment. They fell 61-50 to Cypress Springs on Saturday.
Meanwhile, Cypress Park's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Saturday after their seventh straight loss. They suffered a rough 69-49 defeat at the hands of Bridgeland. While losing is never fun, Cypress Park can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Texas basketball rankings (they are ranked 411th, while Bridgeland is ranked 161st).
Despite the loss, Cypress Park saw an underclassman step up: Royce Shelton scored 19 points along with five assists. That was a full 38.8% of Cypress Park's points, marking the fourth time in a row he's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Angelo Reyes, who scored nine points.
Cypress Ranch's defeat ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 19-8. As for Cypress Park, their defeat dropped their record down to 10-15.
Cypress Ranch didn't have too much breathing room in their game against Cypress Park in their previous meeting back in December of 2023, but they still walked away with a 55-51 victory. Will Cypress Ranch repeat their success, or does Cypress Park have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
