Basketball Recap: Eastern Wins High-Profile Game Against Friendship Collegiate Academy

On Tuesday, Eastern faced Friendship Collegiate Academy in a battle between two of the state's top teams. The Eastern Ramblers put the hurt on the Friendship Collegiate Academy Knights with a sharp 59-36 victory. The Ramblers pushed the score to 47-25 by the end of the third, a deficit the Knights had little chance of recovering from.

Eastern got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Labrea Carter out in front who went 10 of 20 en route to 25 points and eight rebounds. Another player making a difference was Jayme Poindexter, who went 5 of 12 on her way to 15 points in addition to seven assists and six boards.

Eastern smashed the offensive glass and finished the game with 16 offensive boards. That's the most offensive rebounds they've posted since back in December of 2023.

Several Knights players turned in solid performances despite ultimately coming up short. Perhaps the best among those players was Jonae McKnight, who posted eight points and three steals. The team also got some help courtesy of Z'Niyah Moore, who put up seven points.

Eastern's first victory this season bumped their record up to 1-2.

Eastern wasted no time getting back out on the court and has already played their next contest, a 54-10 win against DC International on the 5th. As for Friendship Collegiate Academy, they also didn't take long to hit the court again: they've already played their next game, a 41-33 defeat against Banneker on the 5th.
