The Winston Eagles will take on the Hill County Wolves at TBD on Friday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
It can be hard to translate regular season success to the playoffs, but Winston had no problem doing just that on Friday. They blew past CenTex HomeSchool 56-30. Considering Winston has won five contests by more than 19 points this season, Friday's blowout was nothing new.
Darren Rodriguez was a one-man wrecking crew for Winston as he rushed for 123 yards and four touchdowns on only 13 carries, and also picked up 84 receiving yards and two touchdowns. Rodriguez was no stranger to the big play, turning on the jets for a run that went for 55 yards. Another player making a difference was Shane Arnold, who gained 115 total yards and two touchdowns.
Hill County fell on hard times earlier this season, but after back-to-back wins it seems like their luck might finally be changing. They breezed by Founders Classical Academy on the road to the tune of 79-31.
Jonathan Fisk was on fire: he rushed for 224 yards and six touchdowns on only nine carries, and also threw for 68 yards and a touchdown on only six passes. The team also got some help courtesy of Tristan Knight, who gained 105 total yards and four touchdowns.
Their wins bumped Winston to 6-4 and Hill County to 4-7.
