The L.E.A.D. Academy Lions waltzed into their matchup on Friday with six straight wins but they left with seven. They blew past Gulf Pointe Latin 49-14 at home. L.E.A.D. Academy has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won six contests by 22 points or more this season.
Multiple players turned in solid performances to lead L.E.A.D. Academy to victory, but perhaps none more so than Kamryn Lay, who scored 12 points along with seven rebounds and six assists. Another player making a difference was Hayden Peoples, who scored 14 points along with six steals.
Perhaps unsurprisingly given the score, Gulf Pointe Latin struggled to work together and finished the game with only three assists. They were crushed by their opponents in that department as L.E.A.D. Academy racked up 15 assists.
L.E.A.D. Academy is on a roll lately: they've won ten of their last 11 contests, which provided a nice bump to their 11-4 record this season. As for Gulf Pointe Latin, they dropped their record down to 7-9 with that defeat, which was their third straight on the road.
Both teams are looking forward to the support of their home crowds in their upcoming games. L.E.A.D. Academy will take on South Baldwin Christian Academy at 5:00 p.m. on Tuesday. South Baldwin Christian Academy will have to bring their A-game into this one, as they are staring down a pretty big deficit in their respective state's rankings (they are ranked 668th in Alabama, while L.E.A.D. Academy is ranked 223rd in Florida). As for Gulf Pointe Latin, Gulf Pointe Latin and West Florida Baptist Academy will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Hopefully West Florida Baptist Academy focused on turnovers this week since the team gave up seven on Saturday.
