The Oneida Express won against the Vernon-Verona-Sherrill Red Devils last Saturday with 56 points and they decided to stick to that point total again on Friday. Oneida snuck past Vernon-Verona-Sherrill with a 56-51 victory. The victory made it back-to-back wins for Oneida.
When it comes to explaining why Vernon-Verona-Sherrill lost, one person who can't be blamed is Atticus Roque. Despite the final result, he dropped a double-double on 17 points and 17 rebounds. The team also got some help courtesy of Degaragen Paradis, who scored 11 points along with eight rebounds.
Oneida's victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 6-6. Those victories were due in large part to their offensive dominance across that stretch, as they averaged 59.3 points per game. As for Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, they have not been sharp recently, as they've lost eight of their last nine matchups, which put a noticeable dent in their 4-11 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Oneida will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against Holland Patent at 7:00 p.m. on January 30th. Holland Patent knows how to get points on the board -- the team has finished with flashy point totals in its past five games -- so hopefully Oneida likes a good challenge. As for Vernon-Verona-Sherrill, they will head out on the road to challenge Central Valley Academy at 7:00 p.m. on Tuesday. The teams are on pretty different trajectories at the moment (Central Valley Academy has ten straight victories, Vernon-Verona-Sherrill has six straight defeats), but none of that matters once you're on the field.
