The First Coast Buccaneers typically have all the answers at home, but on Tuesday the ED White Commanders proved too difficult a challenge. They escaped with a win against the Buccaneers by the margin of a single free throw, 49-48. The victory was all the more spectacular given ED White's disadvantage in MaxPreps' Florida basketball rankings (they are ranked 479th, while the Buccaneers are ranked 224th).
Toussaint Chery went supernova for ED White, scoring 14 points. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Chery has scored all season. Another player making a difference was Ty Vincent, who scored 13 points along with two steals.
ED White's win ended a six-game drought on the road and puts them at 8-12. As for First Coast, this is the second loss in a row for them and nudges their season record down to 14-8.
ED White will be staying on the road on Tuesday to face off against the Rams on February 6th. As for First Coast, they will be playing at home against the Indians at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Baldwin comes in still looking for their first win of the season.
