The Ocean View Seahawks were the 54-20 winner over the Godinez Fundamental Grizzlies when they last played one another back in January of 2023, but their luck changed this time around. Ocean View took a 57-46 hit to the loss column at the hands of Godinez Fundamental on Friday.
When it comes to explaining why Ocean View lost, one person who can't be blamed is Brayden Ackerman. Despite the final result, he scored 20 points along with eight rebounds. The contest was Ackerman's fifth in a row with at least ten points. Aaron Phan was another key contributor, scoring nine points along with five rebounds.
Ocean View's defeat ended a five-game streak of away wins dating back to last season and brought them to 12-8. As for Godinez Fundamental, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won eight of their last nine games, which provided a nice bump to their 14-6 record this season.
Both squads will have to hit the road in their upcoming games. Ocean View will face off against Segerstrom at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. As for Godinez Fundamental, they will head out on the road to face off against Westminster at 6:30 p.m. on Tuesday. Westminster is on a three-game streak of home wins, Godinez Fundamental a three-game streak of away wins -- so someone will have to leave a streak behind on the court.
