Monticello Empire League recap November 13, 2013
The biggest upset of the week belonged to Rodriguez, who defeated 633rd ranked Armijo, 22-19.
The Mustangs scaled the state rankings by moving to 709 from 758 this week, the biggest jump in Monticello Empire League. Rodriguez climbed the ranks as a result of beating the Indians 22-19.
Vacaville's dynamic duo of Chad Hekking and Tanner Donaldson proved to be unstoppable against Wood, as they were the top passer and receiver in the league this week. Hekking threw for 156 yards and 1 touchdown and Donaldson had 74 yards receiving. Damonte Moore helped Vacaville's passing attack out by catching 3 balls for 48 yards.
Damon Lewis provided a threat through the air and on the ground as the Wildcats fell to the Bulldogs. Lewis' key target this week was Tristen Keegan, who caught 3 passes for 56 yards.
Napa's Kyle Beaver and Austin Aaron have formed a dream team this season, leading the league in both passing and receiving yards. 5-11 quarterback Beaver has thrown for 1,771 yards this season, while Aaron has 48 catches for 910 yards. Wood's Lewis leads the league in rushing yards with 1,213.
The Indians' Aaron is a few successful plays short of surpassing 1,000 yards receiving this season. He needs only 90 receiving yards against Oak Ridge to hit that benchmark. So far this year, he has acheived 48 catches for 910 yards.
Vacaville extended the longest winning streak in the league this week by beating Carlos Meraz's team, 42-24. The victory was the fifth in a row for Mike Papadopoulos' team.
