Jackson is 10-0 against Midtown since December of 2019, and they'll have a chance to extend that success on Friday. The Jackson Jaguars will head out on the road to face off against the Midtown Knights at 6:00 p.m. Jackson has been dominant on offense recently, as they've racked up an incredible 1,435 points over their last 20 contests.
Jackson can now show off 15 landslide victories after their most recent matchup on Tuesday. They simply couldn't be stopped as they easily beat Tri-Cities 76-44 at home. Given Jackson's advantage in MaxPreps' Georgia basketball rankings (they are ranked 16th, while Tri-Cities is ranked 121st), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Jackson got their win on the backs of several key players, but it was Shakira Gresham out in front who scored 20 points along with three steals. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Gresham has scored all season. Kennedie Cooper was another key contributor, scoring 17 points along with two steals.
Meanwhile, Midtown entered their tilt with Villa Rica with seven consecutive wins but they'll enter their next game with eight. Midtown blew past Villa Rica 63-22 on the road on Tuesday. Midtown has made a habit of sweeping their opponents off the court, having now won 13 matches by 24 points or more this season.
Jackson's victory was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season, which pushed their record up to 21-1. They've been dominating during the contests in that stretch too, as they've won by an average of 30.3 points. As for Midtown, they have been performing incredibly well recently as they've won ten of their last 11 games, which provided a nice bump to their 21-3 record this season.
Jackson beat Midtown 55-47 in their previous matchup back in January. The rematch might be a little tougher for Jackson since the team won't have the home-court advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
