The Conneaut Spartans's recent rough patch got a bit rougher on Tuesday after their 12th straight loss. They were outmatched by Geneva at home and fell 72-31. While losing is never fun, Conneaut can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' Ohio basketball rankings (they are ranked 656th, while the Eagles are ranked 218th).
Despite the loss, Conneaut still got an impressive performance from Chance Loomis, who scored 17 points.
Conneaut struggled to work together and finished the game with only four assists. That's the fewest assists they've managed all season.
Conneaut's defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-12. As for Geneva, they are on a roll lately: they've won 11 of their last 12 matchups, which provided a nice bump to their 13-3 record this season.
Conneaut will head out on the road to square off against the Blue Streaks at 6:45 p.m. on Friday. As for Geneva, they will be playing at home against the Dragons at 7:00 p.m. on Friday. Lakeside is coming into the match on a three-game losing streak.
