The Mount Vernon Majors will head out on the road to face off against the Falls Church Jaguars at 6:00 p.m. on Tuesday. Mount Vernon is strutting in with some hitting muscle as they've averaged 9 runs per game this season.

Mount Vernon proved they can win big on Tuesday (they won by 19) and on Friday they proved they can win the close ones too. They never let Edison get on the board and left with a 2-0 win. For those keeping track at home, that's the closest victory the Majors have posted since May 6, 2024.

Mount Vernon's win was truly a team effort as four different players contributed at least one hit. One of them was Noah Toy, who went 2-for-3 with one RBI. That's the most hits Toy has posted since back in March of 2024. Hudson Seyfried also deserves some recognition as he snagged his first stolen base of the season.

Meanwhile, Falls Church hadn't done well against Hayfield recently (they were 0-9 in their previous nine matchups), but they didn't let the past get in their way on Friday. The Jaguars skirted past the Hawks 6-5.

Winston Stewart was excellent, scoring two runs while getting on base in three of his four plate appearances. Another player making a difference was Stefin Schneider, who scored a run and stole a base while getting on base in two of his three plate appearances.

Falls Church's victory ended a five-game drought on the road dating back to last season and puts them at 4-3. As for Mount Vernon, their record is now 4-2.

The pitchers for both teams better look sharp on Tuesday as neither team is afraid to steal. Mount Vernon has been swiping bases left and right this season, having averaged 4 stolen bases per game. However, it's not like Falls Church struggles in that department as they've been averaging an even more impressive 5.6 stolen bases. The only question left is which team can snag more.

Mount Vernon came out on top in a nail-biter against Falls Church in their previous matchup back in April of 2024, sneaking past 3-2. The rematch might be a little tougher for the Majors since the squad won't have the home-field advantage this time around. We'll see if the change in venue makes a difference.
