The Kecoughtan Warriors will be playing at home against the Woodside Wolverines at 7:00 p.m. on Thursday. Expect the scorekeeper to be kept busy: if their previous games are any indication, the two teams will really light up the scoreboard.
Last Tuesday, Kecoughtan was within striking distance but couldn't close the gap as they fell 62-58 to Denbigh.
Despite their defeat, Kecoughtan saw several players rise to the challenge and make noteworthy plays. Caleb Mathews, who scored 15 points, was perhaps the best of all. The team also got some help courtesy of Kevin Dryden, who scored 12 points.
Meanwhile, Woodside can now show off 13 landslide victories after their most recent match on Tuesday. They claimed a resounding 74-31 victory over Warwick at home. Given Woodside's advantage in MaxPreps' Virginia basketball rankings (they are ranked 14th, while Warwick is ranked 306th), the result wasn't entirely unexpected.
Kecoughtan's loss dropped their record down to 10-10. As for Woodside, they pushed their record up to 18-1 with that victory, which was their 17th straight at home dating back to last season.
