South Garner unfortunately witnessed the end of their five-game winning streak on Friday. They took a 70-56 bruising from Southeast Raleigh.
Despite the defeat, South Garner got a solid performance out of Najai Hines, who dropped a double-double on 21 points and 17 rebounds. As a matter of fact, that's the most points Hines has scored all season. Kai Muschette was another key contributor, scoring 12 points along with six rebounds.
Cleveland suffered their closest defeat yet this season on Friday. They fell just short of Garner by a score of 78-76. While losing is never fun, Cleveland can't take it too hard given the team's big disadvantage in MaxPreps' North Carolina basketball rankings (they are ranked 311th, while Garner is ranked 71st).
South Garner's loss ended a four-game streak of away wins and brought them to 10-3. As for Cleveland, their defeat dropped their record down to 7-7.
South Garner was able to grind out a solid win over Cleveland in their previous matchup back in February of 2023, winning 70-58. Will South Garner repeat their success, or does Cleveland have a new game plan this time around? We'll find out soon enough.
