Plant City is a perfect 3-0 against Jefferson since March of 2018 and they'll have a chance to extend that dominance on Tuesday. The Raiders will host the Dragons at 7:00 p.m. Both squads will be entering this one on the heels of a big victory.
Plant City barely beat Robinson the last time the pair played, but that sure wasn't the case this time around. The Raiders' pitcher stepped up to hand the Knights an 8-0 shutout on Friday. Winning may never get old, but the Raiders sure are getting used to it with their third in a row.
Kayleigh Gibbs made a splash while hitting and pitching. She looked comfortable on the mound, not allowing a single earned run while striking out six over seven innings pitched. Gibbs was also big at the plate, scoring two runs and stealing a base while going 2-for-3.
In other batting news, Plant City got a massive performance out of Kyleigh Meiers, who scored two runs and stole two bases while going 2-for-4. Meiers also hit a double, marking her first of the season. Another player making a difference was Rylee Mobley, who went 3-for-4 with two doubles and two RBI.
Plant City kept the outfield on their toes and finished the game with 15 hits. That strong performance was nothing new for the team: they've now got at least 13 hits in three consecutive contests.
Meanwhile, Jefferson got the win against Lennard on Thursday by a conclusive 11-1. That's two games straight that the Dragons have won by exactly ten runs.
Like Plant City, Jefferson also got a great game from a two-way player: Madisen Fleming. She pitched six innings while giving up just one earned run off seven hits. Fleming has been consistent recently: she hasn't given up more than two walks in four consecutive appearances. She was also solid in the batter's box, scoring three runs while going 1-for-4.
In other batting news, Amaris Dominguez and Anais Ortiz did most of the damage at the plate: Dominguez went 2-for-3 with one home run, two runs, and one stolen base, while Ortiz scored four runs and stole a base while going 3-for-4. Those four runs gave Ortiz a new career-high. Jania Santos was another key player, going 2-for-4 with four RBI, one run, and one double.
Jefferson is on a roll lately: they've won three of their last four games. That's provided a nice bump to their 9-6 record this season. The wins came thanks in part to their pitching effort, having only surrendered 4.0 runs on average over those games. As for Plant City, their victory was their third straight on the road, which pushed their record up to 15-6.
Both Plant City and Jefferson just can't seem to miss. The Raiders have been making plenty of contact this season, having averaged 11.4 hits per game. However, it's not like Jefferson struggles in that department as they've been averaging only 5.5 hits. With both teams so capable at the plate, fans should be ready for an impressive hitting performance.
Plant City took their win against Jefferson in their previous matchup back in April of 2023 by a conclusive 17-9 score. Do the Raiders have another victory up their sleeve, or will the Dragons turn the tables on them? We'll have the answer soon enough.
