The Halfway Cardinals had to endure a four-game losing streak, but that streak is no more. They took down Everton 51-35 on Friday. That result was just more of the same for these two, as Halfway also won the last time the pair played back in January of 2023.
Despite the loss, Everton saw an underclassman step up: Olivia Sartin scored 15 points along with nine rebounds and three blocks. That was a full 42.9% of Everton's points, marking the fourth time in a row she's earned more than a third of the team's points. The team also got some help courtesy of Kenzie Sartin, who scored eight points.
Halfway's win ended a three-game drought on the road and puts them at 4-8. As for Everton, their defeat was their fifth straight at home, which dropped their record down to 3-15.
Halfway on the road again on Tuesday and play against Wheatland at 5:30 p.m. on January 30th. Wheatland presents a significant challenge as they come into the match much higher ranked than Halfway in Missouri (Wheatland is ranked 128th, while Halfway is ranked 490th). As for Everton, Everton and Fair Play will face off at 5:30 p.m. on January 29th without much rest after finishing up games yesterday. Fair Play is coming into the game on a five-game losing streak.
